About Alex Lewis, BCBA®, LBA

With nearly 20 years of experience, I am dedicated to supporting clients’ emotional/behavioral regulation, language development, social skills and executive functioning. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®), licensed behavior analyst, and certified special education teacher.

I am committed to creating plans that foster growth, independence and emotional wellbeing. My modern approach is built on the belief that neurodiversity is a difference, rather than a deficit. All of my approaches prioritize consent, assent, and clients’ strengths and interests.

I practice applied behavior analysis (ABA) to create meaningful change for children, adolescents, and adults. ABA is an evidence-based approach rooted in the belief that no person is “bad” or, “flawed.” Instead, we believe everyone just requires unique strategies and support in order to live their most meaningful lives!

Assessments & 1:1 Therapy

Through direct interaction, I assess environmental factors that influence behavior. Then, with client input, I create individualized plans that target meaningful goals. All of my clients receive the most effective 1:1 therapy for success in school, home, vocational, and community settings.

Caregiver Trainings

Parenting can be hard at times! I help caregivers and children build stronger relationships by giving them the tools to create nurturing environments. If you are facing everyday parenting challenges, like temper tantrums or issues with potty training, I am here to help.

FAQs

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior and how it is affected by the environment. ABA therapy uses evidence-based strategies to help individuals develop meaningful skills and reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning or daily life.

  • “Neurodiversity-affirming” practice embraces the differences among neurodivergent-identifying and neurotypical people. Neurodiversity-affirming care does not attempt to change behavior because it’s not viewed as “normal” by the majority of society. Rather, it prioritizes the values of neurodivergent people and their loved ones. Neurodiversity-affirming care creates plans that foster skills in autonomy and advocacy; not compliance and control.

“Assent-based” care is rooted in the belief that all clients, regardless of their support needs, should be willing to participate in all aspects of intervention. Our plans are designed to promote happiness and empowerment. If our clients display behaviors that indicate they are in distress or unhappy, we pause, reassess, and brainstorm how to make it a more positive experience.

  • I specialize in support teens and adults with executive functioning, navigating social, romantic, and sexual relationships, vocational skills, activities of daily living, and community navigation.

  • A BCBA® (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a master's-level professional who is certified to design, oversee, and monitor behavior support programs. BCBA®s have advanced training in ABA and are qualified to assess behavior, create individualized treatment plans, and ensure that therapy is effective and ethical.

  • I specialize in supporting children with language development, toilet training, sleep issues, food selectivity, social skills, activities of daily living (e.g., brushing teeth, dressing), sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation and executive functioning.

  • We are a private pay provider at this time. However, many are able to submit invoices for out-of-network reimbursement. We’re happy to provide the necessary documentation to support your submission and help guide you through the process.

  • "I reached out to Alex in complete desperation: I had a (neurotypical) toddler whose transition to a big boy bed was imploding with a baby on the way! Alex approached our situation with compassion and skill, and took the time to understand our toddler before formulating a plan that worked for all of us. Nap and bedtime went from taking literally hours with instances of eloping up to 75 times per night to a completely streamlined bedtime routine and now he doesn’t leave his room at all! Alex even helped us implement an “ok to wake” plan using a green light on his sound machine. If you’re having any trouble at all with toileting, bedtime woes, or even general toddler behavior management, reach out to Alex NOW!"

He took time really getting to know our son and created a Behavior Intervention Plan that truly sought to motivate him by encouraging his strengths. With the BIP's implementation, our son has become an engaged participant in classroom learning and school-wide activities and the self-regulation skills he has learned have carried over making home routine tasks much more manageable for him"
